As per Tamil Nadu Government Press Release No. 48 dated 28.05.2026, all TASMAC liquor shops, attached bars, club bars, hotel bars, and licensed liquor-serving premises in Chennai district will remain closed on Friday, 1 May 2026, for May Day.
No liquor sales will be allowed on this day. Strict action will be taken against anyone violating the closure rules.

According to the official Tamil Nadu government notification, all TASMAC liquor retail shops, bars, and foreign liquor outlets will remain closed on April 21, April 22, April 23, 2026 (Polling Day), and May 4, 2026 (Counting Day), in addition to May 1, 2026 (May Day).
