New OROP Pension Table 2024: Key Points of the One Rank One Pension (OROP) Initiative: The OROP framework ensures that all Armed Forces members who retire at the same rank and with identical service durations receive the same pension, irrespective of their retirement dates. Essentially, it aims to align the pension amounts of current retirees with those who retired earlier at regular intervals. The main aspects of the OROP directive include:

  • Pension adjustments will occur every five years.
  • The pensions of former retirees will be recalibrated based on the pension figures from 2013, with this adjustment taking effect from July 1, 2014.
  • All pensioners will have their pensions recalculated according to the average of both the lowest and highest pensions awarded to individuals who retired in 2013 within the same rank and service length.
  • Those receiving pensions above the average will retain their current amounts without any changes.
  • Arrears will be disbursed in four equal installments every six months.
  • In contrast, all family pensioners, including those receiving Special or Liberalized family pensions as well as gallantry award recipients, will receive their arrears in a single payment.

OROP Pension Table: Financial Support for Defence Forces Pensioners

The One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme provides significant financial benefits to a specific group of individuals, namely the Defence Forces Pensioners who retired up until June 30, 2014, along with their family pensioners. This initiative has allowed a substantial sum of ₹10,795.40 crore to be disbursed in arrears to a total of 20,60,220 Defence Forces Pensioners and their eligible family members, as a direct result of the implementation of the OROP policy.

Additionally, the yearly recurring expenditure associated with this scheme is approximately ₹7,123.38 crores, which underscores the ongoing financial commitment to support these veterans. Over a span of about six years, starting from July 1, 2014, the cumulative expenditure has surpassed an astounding ₹42,740 crore. Furthermore, OROP beneficiaries have also enjoyed the significant advantage of having their pensions recalculated under the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), using a multiplication factor of 2.57, thereby ensuring that their pensions are adjusted fairly in line with inflation and cost-of-living increases.

OROP-3 Revised Pension Table PDF Download for Defence Forces

The comprehensive document titled “OROP 3 Revised Pension Table PDF Download” contains important information and updates regarding the One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme, which aims to ensure equitable pension distribution for members of the Defence Forces. This information is based on the Defence Ministry’s official letter, No.12(1)/2014/D(Pen/Pol)-Part-II, dated November 7, 2015, which outlines the guidelines for the re-fixation of pensions for Defence Forces personnel, stipulating that adjustments will occur every five years in the future.

The initial revision of pensions under the OROP Scheme took effect on July 1, 2019, marking a significant milestone for many veterans and their families. Looking ahead, the second revision is slated to become effective on July 1, 2024, which will bring further adjustments to ensure fairness and consistency in pension disbursement.

According to these provisions, pensions will be recalibrated for eligible Defence Forces pensioners and family pensioners based on the average of both the minimum and maximum pensions awarded to Defence Forces personnel who retired in the calendar year 2023, specifically within the same rank and with an equivalent length of service. Additionally, it is important to note that the pensions for those individuals currently receiving amounts that exceed this average will be safeguarded to prevent any financial loss. This comprehensive approach underscores the government’s commitment to recognizing and supporting the contributions of those who have served in the military.
