CPI BY-2012 Rural, Urban Index for April 2024
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) numbers on a base of 2012=100 have been released for rural, urban, and combined areas for April 2024. Here are the key highlights from the report:
- The annual inflation rate, based on the all-India Consumer Price Index (CPI) number, stands at 4.83% (Provisional) for April 2024 compared to April 2023. The corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban areas are 5.43% and 4.11%, respectively.
- The CPI values for January, February, and March 2024 are 5.10, 5.09, and 4.85, respectively.
- Notably, among the top five groups, the year-on-year inflation in groups such as ‘Clothing & Footwear’, ‘Housing’, and ‘Fuel & Light’ has decreased compared to the previous month, indicating fluctuations in the cost of these essential items.
